Downtown BurjKhalifa will showcase remarkable laser show in accompanied with great music. The year 2018 is the 100th birth Anniversary of His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and therefore the theme of the celebration will befit the birth anniversary. Important tips for visitors:
Visitors need to note that after 8pm there will be no taxis to Downtown Dubai, however 170 buses will be pressed into service to drop visitors from downtown to metro station after the event. As per the officials the visitors are urged to reach Downtown Dubai by 5pm to avoid congestion. Families and singles will be given separate entry and viewing areas. When the parking spaces go full in Emaar Boulevard, Dubai Police will close the roads for vehicles and only pedestrians will be allowed. The metro red and green line will be functional from 5 am and BurjKhalifa station will be closed by 10pm on the eve of the new year. Be mindful not to park your vehicle on the street, alternatives routes with directional signs will be provided to ease mobility. Dubai Water Canal and pedestrian walk way on Sheikh Zayedroad will be closed. The Sukuk and Financial Centre will be closed at 8pm. The happiness street will be closed by 6pm, Emirates Tower intersection by 8pm. Al Asayelstreet from Oud Mehta to Financial Centre will be closed at by 4pm. Mohammad Bin Rashid Boulevard will be closed between 5pm to 8pm, holder with access card and bookings are required to arrive before 5 pm. There will be around 4000 parking slots outside the Downtown Area. The Al Wasl club will have 1000 parkings, General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs at Al Jaffliya will have 500 parkings, Dubai water Canal will have 1000 parkings and EidMusalla at Mankool will have 1500 parkings. The parking at these areas will ease your commuting by enabling you to park at the closest parking area which you find convenient and choose public transport from the parking area to the Downtown.
The Security Plans
There will be around 23 tents featuring first aid, lost & found items and lost children, the tents will also provide juices and water. The Brigadier Abdullah Ali Al Gaithi, director of the General Department of Protective Security and Emergency at Dubai Police stated that around 1.5 million people are expected to arrive at Downtown Dubai along with residents living nearby. Various security plans are instigated for the smooth flow and safety of visitors. The will be 32 entities in action to provide safety and to employ additional security measures along with mobile police stations. Al Ghaiti stated: “We will use everything that can help us make people happy and safe.” Brigadier Rashid Khalifa Bin M. Buflasa, assistant director-general for Fire and Rescue at DCD said there will be 1200 firefighters, 130 fire extinguishers, 180 firefighting vehicles and new fleet of computerised vehicles with immediate response system along with 100 volunteers who are trained in first aid. There will be three crossing points for pedestrian compared to last year which was only one, also four alternative parking areas. To manage any emergencies there will be 23 ambulances will be stationed around BurjKhalifa and eight ambulances at The Dubai Mall.
